Forex Trading 101: US Dollar Bill Features and Denominations

Dollar is known as one of the most powerful currencies and forex trading experts are surely aware of it. In most published articles about this currency, the US dollar serves as the world’s currency mainly because it is dubbed as the world’s currency. This then means that countries around the world accumulate dollars to secure their economy. In the world market, oil importing countries also need dollars to purchase the needed oil to fuel power plants and vehicles. With these very important functions of the dollar in our lives and in our economy, it will be advantageous for traders to have an idea on the essential facts about this very powerful currency.

The US dollar has seven  bill denominations that are continuously revolving around the world. These include $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. But aside from these bills, there are also collectible bills and coins which numismatists find fascinating.

Circulation and Value

As stated earlier, dollar bills and even coins are not just circulated in the US but around the world. Thus, it is the responsibility of the Federal Reserve to make sure that there is a sufficient supply of dollars in circulation.In connection to its circulation, the forex trading industry also uses dollars as a basis for currency exchange. To compute the rate, the local currency needs to be multiplied to the designated  dollar exchange rate. Most of the time the conversion rate is based on factors such as economic status and debt to GDP ratio.

Other Features of the Dollar Bill

The Us dollar bill is not just an interesting asset because of its economic value but also because of its rich historical background and significance. By physically looking at the bill,  we could see several interesting symbols that convey various meanings about the Americans’ nature and culture.

1.The US Great Shield

This feature contains several symbols that depict American spirit. The American Eagle with wings that are spread depicts freedom while the 13 arrows of war in its non-dominant left talon and an olive branch for peace in its dominant right talon. The banner with latin text is translated Out of Many, One. in English.When you look at the shield you will also see horizontal blue bands which symbolize the unity of the original 13 colonies.
