The film industry is a constantly changing organism. On an average 600 movies are produced per year in Hollywood alone. Some of these movies earn great profits for the makers, some don’t. A man who has been working with an all-time high in the entertainment industry is Robert Simonds.

Robert Simonds, STX Entertainment Chairman and CEO is not a stranger to Hollywood. Simonds is a veteran movie producer with a list of more than 30 movies that bagged more than $6 million dollars in worldwide box office revenue. His productions include hits like The Pink Panther Series and Happy Gilmore. Robert (Bob) Simonds, who is a summa cum laude graduate from Yale University, began working on launching his own movie production and distribution firm in 2012, along with Bill McGlashan, founder and managing partner of TGP Growth. Their vision was to create medium budget movies with superstars, that would be distributed worldwide.

They co-founded STX Entertainment, a production, farm financing, distribution and marketing firm funded by TPG Growth in 2014. Later, the company secured funds from Chinese equity firm Hony Capital, and many other firms and individuals. According to Bob Simonds, STX Entertainment Chairman and CEO, this will help bridge the gap between the entertainment industries of the U.S. and China, which are the two biggest film and television markets in the world.

The firm, though originally was a film production company, launched its television production and distribution division, STXtelevision in 2016. STX Entertainment also acquired a virtual reality firm, Surreal to launch its virtual reality division, STXsurreal. STXdigital came soon after, after acquiring Chinese distribution rights of some specials from Dick Clark Productions. After 4 years, Funding your business’ STX Entertainment has a net value of about $3.5 billion.

Robert Simonds’ team at STX Entertainment is made up of champions of the films and TV industries. Bob Simonds employed former COO if Viacom Entertainment Group Thomas McGroth. The later additions to the team include former Chairman of Universal Pictures Adam Fogelson and former communications head of Paramount Pictures, Patricia Röckenwagner.

The list of films by Robert Simonds’ STX Entertainment that attribute to its great growth includes names like Bad Moms, A Bad Moms Christmas, The Circle, The Space Between Us and the recent hit I Feel Pretty. A new film Adrift, featuring Shailene Woodley.

Robert Simonds is working to transform to the global film and television scenario, starting with Hollywood. STX Entertainment, today is a media production, distribution, finance and marketing firm that has an unequalled presence in the entertainment markets in the United States and China. Its fame is not limited to the two countries though. The many companies that support the firm include China’s Tencent Holdings Limited, Liberty Global (United Kingdom) and Hong Kong based PCCW Media.
